Challenge: Do Something You've Always Wanted To Try

AdventHealth Feel Whole Challenge

This year I decided to take part in the AdventHealth, Feel Whole Challenge. For 21 days, you are asked to take part in small challenges that you will come to realize, truly get you out of your comfort zone (but in a great, non fearful way). This challenge has been so empowering for me, and with each challenge comes a new sense of accomplishment for me.

This particular challenge was one of the first ones I noticed on the calendar.

I asked myself, “what is something you’ve always wanted to try, Krystal?” I could easily name a million things, but I opted for something both my family and I would enjoy.

If you follow me on social media, you are well aware that we are Disney FANATICS (not an exaggeration). We are, of course, annual passholders. Even with us going as often as we do, we have yet to scratch the surface of everything Disney has to offer.

There were so many resorts that we had yet to explore, so many foods we hadn't tried and so many hidden secrets that we had yet to discover.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was one of the resorts we had yet to visit, but it was a resort I knew a lot about. I do some heavy Disney research in my spare time and I knew this resort like the back of my hand (without even visiting it).

One of the many things you can do at The Wilderness Lodge, is rent out a pontoon boat and drive it around the resort/ Magic Kingdom. For $45, you get a boat that seats up to 10 people, and 30 minutes to explore on your own (only requirement for the drivers is 18 years or older).

With this, I was killing two birds with one stone.

1. I had never rented a boat at Disney.

2. I had never driven a boat.

We arrived at the resort bright and early, had breakfast at the Whispering Canyon Cafe (located inside the resort), and headed to the rental station to get our boat. We didn’t have a reservation, so we made sure to be one of the first ones in line to guarantee us a boat.

After a quick safety review by one of the cast members, we were off!

I was extremely nervous to drive the boat after realizing how it was to be driven. I decided to let Daniel reverse it out, and I would drive it from there. My driving lasted all but 5 minutes (most likely less). The water was pretty darn busy that day and with my son on the boat, I was not going to risk our safety.

Even though my driving didn’t last long, I very much enjoyed the 30 minutes that we had on that boat. I sat back and held my son while I watched the joy on Daniel’s face as, he too, was driving a boat for the very first time.

The wind in my hair, the ones I love beside me, and Disney all around me.

What a dream come true!

This was something I had always wanted to do, but never did it. This is one of the many reasons I love this Feel Whole Challenge. It has, not only, pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it has encouraged me to just get up and do the things I dream of doing. Life is too short, make your dreams a reality.
